An ATR 72 turboprop has just left Brasília for São Paulo, but by road
On Friday (4), the team of the company FAB AERO dispatched from Brasília to São Paulo another aircraft by road, as it had done with an Airbus A318 ex-Avianca the day before. The destination of both planes is the city of Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo, where they will be handed over to a new owner and will have a new purpose (still to be revealed).
Interestingly, in this last convoy were sent the parts of an ATR 72-200, PR-AZT (msn 0450) and 26 years old, which, in Brazil, was used for an interesting (and unusual) purpose which was the transport of employees of the company Imetame between locations of operation and its headquarters.
The plane flew for several years until it was replaced by a newer, model ATR 72-600 (PR-PFD).
Such logistics were employed by Imetame, which, instead of hiring labor at the location of services performed outside Espírito Santo, has the culture of taking Aracruz's labor to works outside the state. For this, it uses an ATR plane with capacity for 70 passengers, from north to south of Brazil, taking employees to the works or bringing them back in the “factory stops”.
After the exchange for the newest aircraft, its “older sister” ended up stopped in Brasília for a long time, until it was now dismantled and shipped to Campinas. It's sure to turn heads on the roads as you travel to your new destination.
