The first monorail train on line 17-gold arrives in the capital of São Paulo.
This Sunday, September 8, 2024, the first train of São Paulo's future monorail Line 17-Ouro arrived in the city after a long journey. Manufactured by the Chinese company BYD Skyrail, the five-car train sailed for approximately 40 days from the port of Zhangjiagang, in the Shanghai region, to Brazil. Unloading took place at the Port of Santos, where the train underwent customs procedures before being transported to São Paulo.
The overland transport, which took the railcars from the Port of Santos to Pátio Água Espraiada, where Line 17-Ouro is being built, was carried out by a convoy of eight trucks. Each railcar, weighing approximately 16 tons, occupied an entire trailer, while three other trailers transported the connecting structures between the cars, called gangways. The convoy, which covered over 70 kilometers, was 240 meters long, equivalent to two and a half blocks.
The arrival of the train marks an important step towards the completion of Line 17-Ouro, which is part of the efforts to expand the São Paulo metro network.
